Impersonation charges after badge flashed at pool

Police say employees at the South Troy Pool had some suspicions about a man who was flashing a badge as he came in, so they call the Department.

When two real officers responded, they say they quickly recognized that Ross Congeni was not one of their own.

The badge they recovered had been stolen from the Patterson NJ Police Department. Police would like to know if the badge was used elsewhere.

The man also had a handcuff key with him.

Congeni, who is 52 years old lives on 4th Street in Troy. He is charged with Criminal Impersonation and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property.
