Drug Raid Nets Five

Armed with search warrants, authorities arrested five people in two spots in Amsterdam early Thursday morning and charged them with selling drugs.

After a six-month investigation, search warrants were executed at 39 Elizabeth Street and 259 Division Street in the city of Amsterdam. It was led by the Amsterdam Police Dept., the NYSP Community Narcotics Enforcement Team (CNET), the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Dept. and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office.

The arrest warrants were signed by Amsterdam City Court Judge Hon. Lisa Lorman. She arraigned them later this morning. One suspect, who has an active arrest warrant for drug sales, remains at-large.

Elizabeth Willsey, 30, of Amsterdam, is charged with Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance (3rd Degree, Class-B Felony), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance (3rd Degree, Class-B Felony), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance (4th Degree, Class-C Felony). Police confiscated over 5 grams of cocaine, glassine envelopes of heroin and over $800 in cash during the search warrant.

 

Shayzon Taylor, 30, of Amsterdam, is charged with Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance (3rd Degree, Class-B Felony).

 

 

 

 

Carol Drescher, 31, of Amsterdam, is charged with Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance (3rd Degree, Class-B Felony), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance (4th Degree, Class-C Felony), Unlawful Possession of Marijuana (violation). Drescher was in possession of over 10 grams of cocaine and a small amount of marihuana during the service of the arrest warrant, police said.

 

Trevon Williams, 21, of Amsterdam, is charged with Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance (3rd Degree, Class-B Felony).

 

 

 

 

Preston (PJ) Beverly, 48, of Amsterdam, was picked up during an investigation into an unrelated incident and charged with the following Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance (3rd Degree, Class-B Felony), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance (3rd Degree, Class-B Felony). Beverly was wanted for heroin sales in the city and was found in possession of 27 glassine envelopes of heroin and $885 in cash, police said.
