WEATHER ALERT: Winter Weather Advisory in effect through 6pm Friday

The latest advisory from the National Weather Service:

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ALBANY HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR BLOWING SNOW...WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM EST THIS EVENING.

* LOCATIONS...WESTERN NEW ENGLAND...THE MID HUDSON

  VALLEY...TACONICS...GREATER CAPITAL REGION...HELDERBERGS...LAKE

  GEORGE SARATOGA REGION...CENTRAL AND EASTERN MOHAWK

  VALLEY...SCHOHARIE VALLEY AND THE EASTERN CATSKILLS OF EAST

  CENTRAL NEW YORK.

* HAZARD TYPES...BLOWING SNOW.

* TIMING...BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW WILL CONTINUE INTO THIS

  AFTERNOON BEFORE DIMINISHING IN THE EARLY EVENING.

* IMPACTS...SOME SNOW COVERED ROADS ARE LIKELY DUE TO THE BLOWING

  SNOW. SOME ROADS MAY BECOME SLICK IN THE AREAS OF BLOWING AND

  DRIFTING SNOW. VISIBILITIES WILL BE SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED IN

  AREAS OF BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW.

* WINDS...WEST TO NORTHWEST 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS 35 TO 45 MPH.

* VISIBILITIES...REDUCED TO A MILE OR LESS IN THE BLOWING AND

  DRIFTING SNOWFALL.

* TEMPERATURES...RISING INTO THE UPPER 20S TO MID 30S.
