Two Teens Face Burglary Charges

The Columbia County Sheriff's Office is charging Creshawn Mackey, 18, and a 17-year old boy with burglary (Class-C Felony), Grand Larceny (Class-E Felony) and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property (Class-E Felony) for a break-in on Green Acres Road in Greenport.

The burglary happened on December 22 at 2:00 a.m. when a Sheriff's patrol was called by Columbia County 911 after a homeowner heard noises and thought someone was in his home. Sgt. Brian Molinski and Deputy Sheriff Jason Garvey found footprints leading to the side of the residence and there were signs of entry.
Once they found the homeowner was all right, they searched the home but didn’t find anyone but when checking the neighborhood, they discovered two teens coming out of the woods. Authorities say they were carrying some items valued at more than $1,000 and they had been taken from other homes on Green Acres Road.

Sheriff's Senior Investigator William Foster and Investigator John Rivero responded to assist in the investigation. Mackey and the 17-year old were arrested without incident. The investigation is continuing into the possibility of additional burglaries by the pair.
