Two Schenectady County women are facing charges after grabbing high-end winter gear from a store in Amsterdam. But a security camera and social media were their undoing, investigators said.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office says the women were caught on camera January 9 and picked up January 15 after grabbing North Face jackets and UGG boots from the Alpin Haus on Route 30. So under the heading on its Facebook page, “Do you know these thieves?” Alpin Haus posted a photo from the surveillance camera of the two women browsing and sizing up jackets.
As they took off, investigators said the store alarm triggered but they ran off in the dark to a waiting car. It took a few days but authorities tracked down and arrested Aisha Pounds, 21, of Niskayuna, and Raquel Cridelle, 18, of Schenectady. Both are charged with petty larceny and are due back in Amsterdam Town Court.
