The decision isn't final... yet, but General Electric says they want to consolidate operations in Clearwater, Florida and close its Ft. Edward manufacturing plant. The closure would affect 178 hourly production workers and 20 salaried employees. A company spokesperson says the closure is not yet a final decision, It is subject to a 60 day " decision bargaining period". Union officials say that the company is giving the union one year's notice on the move, as stipulated by the national contract. Union officials for local 332 say they will fight the decision, they say there are too many lives at stake.
