The race wrapped up quickly in the Albany Democratic mayoral primary. Former Common Council President Corey Ellis quickly conceded to City Treasurer Kathy Sheehan.
Speaking at The Pump Station, Sheehan told supporters she is looking forward to digging in and getting on with the changes she wants to bring about in the city.
Sheehan is likely to win the general election in November. She will face Republican candidate Jessie Calhoun in the Nov. 5 general election.
In the city treasurer race, Darius Shahinfar beat Gary Domalewicz in a battle between Democrats to replace Sheehan in her current post.
