There’s a special picnic today at former NFL All-Pro offensive lineman Brian Holloway’s house in Stephentown which was trashed over Labor Day weekend by hundreds of kids, causing an estimated $20,000 in damage. He’s hosting a picnic Saturday, Sept. 21 from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on the property, for people to help repair the house.
On his website, which is also used to “out” many of the kids at the party through their own “tweets” and “selfie” photos, he is asking people to “bring a dish, I'm not a (quarterback), I worked for a living.” And then adds there will be no beer, no drugs, no alcohol.
Another message reads: “When I saw Stephentown for the first time in 1981, I was 22 years old and just graduated from Stanford after keeping this blond headed kid named Elway protected; and signed with the New England Patriots. It was the perfect fit.”
Holloway says he needs floor sanders, carpenters, painters and cleaners to work on his house. It’s a picnic and fundraiser for breast cancer and veterans and he promises there will be security there. He adds on his site that “If you were one of the students involved, I would encourage you to come forward. It’s the right thing to do; and I do have to make an appeal to you directly, please consider making a donation to the fight against Breast Cancer instead of donations to help repair the damage.”
